Hello, My name is Claude Gengler and I am living since half a century in the beautiful but cold and rainy country of Luxemburg (situated between Germany, France and Belgium) together with my wife Gaby. I’m drawing and painting since my earliest days, especially in the ‘Fantasy’ genre, where I prefer goblins, dwarfs and gnomes. Since reading the fabulous books ‘The Lord of the Rings’ of J.R.R. Tolkien or ‘Shannara’ of Terry Brooks at the end of the 70th I was completely enchanted by the world of faeries . At that time the works of Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, John Bauer and Gustaf Tenggren already influenced me. Later I discovered the illustrations of Brian Froud, Alan Lee, John Howe, René Hausman and these artists remain my favorite fairy-magicans until today. Nowadays many young aspirants are trying to follow these masters with more or less success. By the way, I’d like to mention the following ones, due to their special talents: Jean-Baptiste Monge, Civiello, Jef Bertels, Omar Rayyan, Olivier Ledroit, Silke Janas-Schlösser and Mike May.
Me
Claude Gengler
What can I tell you more about me and my life; I am allready grandfather of a little boy named Ben (our little ‘sunshine’), his sister (for the moment called ‘Joy’) will join us in July (What a happy
moment to come!). I like italian and indian food, I love to be out in the woods at dawn and the beginning of darkness with the full moon over my head. I’m a huge (1m84cm tall) progressive and psychedelic-rock fan and I have a large collection of DVD-films. I prefer ‘Historic’-films and filmic documentations on ‘Archeology’.
If you like to know more or if you have simply to tell or to ask me something don’t hesitate to contact me; you can write in English, German or French. I’ll try to send you an answer-mail as soon as ever possible.
See you or better read you very soon
GENGLER CLAUDE CLAUDE.GENGLER@bgl.lu Thank you.
